Obituary of Corinne Audrey Doucette

The death of Corinne Audrey (McLeod) Doucette occurred peacefully at the Saint John Regional Hospital surrounded by her loved ones on Friday, August 12, 2016. Born on August 9, 1947 at the Saint John General Hospital, she was the daughter of the late Rensford and Audrey (Gordon) McLeod of East Saint John. Corinne graduated from the Saint John General Hospital School of Nursing in 1968 and specialized in psychiatric care. Her thirty year career included positions at Centracare, in private duty, geriatric care and with Rehabilitation Services of Canada before retiring in 1998. Corinne grew up in East Saint John. In her youth she sang in the Edith Avenue Baptist Church Choir and won numerous awards in the annual music festival. She was also a member of Grace Presbyterian Church for over forty years and served on the Board of Trustees. Corinne was a natural caregiver and was truly in her element when helping others. She will always be remembered for her generosity, kindness and compassion and, of course, her beautiful smile. She was happiest at home listening to the loons, playing in her garden and taking in the serenity of the lake, while surrounded by her kitties. Grandma always had cookies and treats; her hugs were always free. Her passion for cooking meant everyone knew the kitchen was open at all times. Corinne is survived by her devoted husband, Glen; daughters, Cheryl (Andrew) and Pauline (Ewen); step-son, Adam; her sweetheart grandsons, Keegan and Brayden Hansen and her big brother, Paul (Dale) McLeod. Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visitation on Monday, August 15, 2016 from 2-4 and 6-9 PM. A funeral service will be held from Brenan’s Chapel on Tuesday, August 16, 2016 at 2:00 PM. Interment will take place at a later date. For those who wish, remembrances in memory of Corinne may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or Heart and Stroke Foundation of NB.
