Charles Roi Wills

Obituary of Charles Le Roi Wills

It is with great sadness the family of Charlie Wills wishes to announce his peaceful passing from this life at the Loch Lomond Villa on December 13, 2015. Born April 14, 1925, he was the son of Charles Wills and Kathleen (Allen) Wills. A proud and lifelong South Ender, the centre of his family life was St. James Church on Broad Street, where he sang in the choir and served as a vestryman for many decades. Upon graduating from Saint John High School he enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force during World War II. After the war he married the love of his life Jean (Coffey) Wills and began his career as an accountant with the Workers Compensation Board, becoming the head of his department before retiring in 1985. While being a dedicated husband, father, grandad, uncle (and godfather to many) Charlie’s driving passion was his music. He was a gifted pianist, tickling the ivories for a variety of swing, pop and jazz bands for over sixty years. He is survived by his sons Chris (Pamela), Stephen (Loral), granddaughter Sinead, and granddaughters by marriage Michelle and Sara. He was predeceased by his wife, Jean, son Bruce, his brothers Joe and Allen. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424). There will be visitation on Wednesday, December 16 from 2-4 and 7-9. The funeral service will be held at Brenan’s Chapel at 10 AM on Thursday, December 17, 2015. Donations in Charlie’s memory can be made to the Loch Lomond Villa Foundation. And finally, the family wishes to express our profound gratitude to the caregivers at Birch Lane, at the Villa.
