1968-2015 - It is with sadness we announce Heather’s sudden passing on Sept 14th at her residence in Auckland, New Zealand. Heather is survived by her husband Richard Price, Father Gerald (Wendy)(McLennan) Gray, brother Darrin (Madoka)(Gray/Mitsumune) in Montreal and nephew Zachary also in Montreal, in New Zealand her Father-in-law Douglas and Mother-in-law Nancy, sister-in-law Amy (Alistair) and two nieces Nisha and Brooke. Heather was predeceased by her mother Gail (2004) and grandparents Alfred (1996) and Mary Gray (2013). Heather’s soulmate, Dibley (Burmese Mountain Dog) also predeceased her in 2014. But we are so happy that they are together again! Heather was born in Saint John NB on Feb 9th, 1968 and spent ten years in Montreal as a young child before the family moved back to Saint John in 1977. Heather graduated from Saint John High School. Following her High School graduation, Heather went to work locally in many retail businesses in and around the Saint John area. She soon realized that in order to pursue her future dreams of travel, she would need further education. She then attended and graduated from the two-year Business Technology Program at the New Brunswick Community College in Saint John. Heather than began her working career at Irving Oil head office in Saint John, enjoying her years and the many associates she encountered. One of the highlights of her job was her involvement on behalf of Irving Oil with the tall ships visit to Saint John. On the tall ships departure Heather boarded one of the tall ships to Boston and met the unique challenge of climbing the main mast. Health issues forced Heather to go on long term disability from Irving Oil. Unable to meet the demands of the regular work place, Heather was determined to see the world and immediately sold her new privately built house and took off on her world tour. She ventured across Canada, by train through the Rockies to visit her brother and family in Vancouver then on to Australia. In 1999, Heather signed up for an extended European tour, that included backpacking and staying in Hostels while visiting many countries including England, Germany, the Swiss Alps, Netherlands, Spain, Portugal, Greece, Turkey, Romania, Hungary, Austria, then on to Egypt . Heather also travelled to Japan with her brother Darrin and sister in law Madoka to celebrate their wedding. After many weeks, she then returned to London, England and deciding to share accommodations with a group of girls that she met on her world tour and deciding not to return to Canada. This was to be the first step in the next exciting chapter of Heather’s life. The girls introduced Heather to Richard, her Prince, and in 2001 they were married in London England at a beautiful ceremony at St. Katherine’s Way very near the Tower of London Bridge. All her New Zealand and Canadian families attended, and Heather’s Father always said "thank you Heather and Richard for allowing us to see interesting parts of the world" as Jerry and Wendy then took off on their own tour of Europe. Heather and Richard travelled extensively throughout Europe (in their VW camper van) and even pushed beyond their comfort zone to sign up for a cruise ship into some of the older historic cities of the Soviet Union. After Richard obtained the experience of practicing law in England, they decided to move back to Auckland, New Zealand to be close to Richard’s parents Doug and Nancy. Heather and Richard’s amazing trip back to New Zealand included a stopover in Saint John New Brunswick. Never doing anything in a simple way they landed in California, rented a small car and drove north to Vancouver and across every province between Vancouver and New Brunswick, eventually landing in Saint John, allowing Jerry and Wendy to showcase our beautiful Province to Richard. After a short visit, Heather and Richard left in their rented car travelling through Boston, New York, etc to Nevada, with a side trip to Grand Canyon, including a helicopter ride to the bottom of the Grand Canyon, ending in California where they then flew home to Auckland, New Zealand. Settling into their first house together in Stanmore Bay. Heathers parents, Jerry and Wendy followed up their previous 2007 New Zealand visit with a return visit in March of this year, and were again treated to a wonderful country and fantastic people especially Heather’s New Zealand family. Heather was excited to see us as we kept our visit a secret and her first words upon seeing us were "oh my God, it’s my father".. "what’s wrong why are you here" we convinced Heather nothing was wrong ----We thank God that we made the visit, and that we were able to make these last beautiful memories with Heather. Heather and her New Zealand family provided us with a life time of fantastic memories. We will never forget these great family encounters. We would like to acknowledge The Huntington Society of New Zealand and two special ladies Joe and Jane for all their support provided to Heather and Richard over the years. Interment will be held at a later date.
