Obituary of Loretta M. Thibodeau

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our mother, Loretta M. Thibodeau in the Palliative Care Unit of the Saint John Regional Hospital, surrounded by her 12 children and many relatives. She was the wife of the late Harold J. Thibodeau. She was born April 3, 1917 in East Bathurst and died on Friday, October 29, 2004. She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Delima (Arsenault) Legacy, and had resided in Saint John since 1943, where she lived the greater part of her life in Saint John East. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Her family was the main focus of her life. She raised 12 children and became like a mother to several foster children. Her constant love and support will live forever in the hearts of her 12 children, 40 grandchildren, and 51 great-grandchildren. She is survived by four sons, Arthur (Julie), Richard (Christine), Glenn (Debra), and Ron (Brenda); eight daughters, Margaret (Albert) Guay, Joanne (David) Winchester, Millie (Murray) Kingston, Ruth (Robert) Ouellette, Sharon (Eugene) McKinley, Gladys (Donald) Knox, Sandra (Joe) Thibodeau, and Lynn (Murray) Fraser, all of Saint John; two sisters, Edith (Harold) Bennett of Saint John, and Jeanette (John) Cormier of Maisonnette, N.B; one brother, Arthur (Regina) Legacy of Grand Bay; one-brother-in-law, Bernard Thibodeau of Saint John, ; sister-in-law, Bertha (Betty) St. Pierre of Amherst, N.S.; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Mrs. Thibodeau was a past member of the Randolph Seniors Club and a past member of the East Saint John Seniors Club. She resided many years at Loch Lomond Villa and spent many summers at her trailer at Wally's Campground at Cambridge Narrows. She loved bowling, knitting, music, bingo, and spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Over the years there were many great kitchen parties at her home with family where they were led in music by her fiddle-playing brother, Theo. She will be greatly missed by all who loved her and admired her for her strength, courage, caring and loving nature. She was pre-deceased by one grandson, Robert David Winchester; two brothers, Herbert and Theodore Legacy; and two sisters, Rita Belliveau and Yvonne Kruky.
