Obituary of J. Arthur Savoie

The death of J. Arthur Savoie of 40 Greenwood Lane, husband of Lena (Lavoie) Savoie, occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Thursday, October 7, 2004. Mr. Savoie was born in Upper Sheila, a son of the late Gustave and Alexdrina (McLaughlin) Savoie, and had resided in Saint John since 1945 where he had been employed as a roofer and C.P.R. freight-operator. He had served with the Canadian Army during the Second World War. He enjoyed gardening, hunting and fishing with friends, working on cars, and loving his grandchildren. He was pre-deceased by two brothers, Raoul and Donat; and two sisters, Mary Jane Savoie and Delphine Boucher. Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, Roger (Harriett) of Passekeag, and Steve (Sherry) of St. Martin's; three daughters, Linda Bailey (Mike) of Cole's Island, Mary Ann Spellman (David) of St. Martin's, and Susan LeBlanc (Christopher) of Gardner Creek; 16 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Resting at Fitzpatrick's Funeral Home, 100 Waterloo St., with visiting on Sunday from 7 to 9 and on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph's Church on Tuesday morning at ten o'clock. Interment will take place in St. Joseph's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the charity of your choice would be appreciated.
