Obituary of Marguerite OHara

Surrounded by loving family, Marguerite passed away on Saturday, January 4, 2014 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. She was predeceased by her husband, Charles D. O'Hara. Marguerite was born on February 22, 1919, in Stephenville, NL, the youngest daughter of Albert and Elizabeth March. She made her home in Saint John since 1945 and for the past 19 years resided at the Admiral Beatty Complex. Marguerite is survived by her four children, Karen (late Tony Zappia) of Ottawa; Maureen (Seifu Yemenu) of Ottawa; Kevin of Toronto; Patrick (Helen) of Edmonton. She leaves 7 grandchildren, Colin (Heidi), Tony and Joanna Zappia of Ottawa; Hanna Yemenu of Ottawa; Hillary Pierce of Vancouver and her mother, Joanne Pierce; Charles and Nathan O'Hara of Edmonton. Marguerite had several nieces and nephews including Rosalie (Arnold Ritchie) and Terry (Connie) O'Brien of Youngs Cove and many friends, including Hilda, Judy, Pat and Flora. Many will miss her fine sewing, great cooking, and love of games- especially cards and scrabble. Marguerite was a faithful member of the Cathedral parish and an active member of the Beatty Club, the Seniors' Resource Centre, and the City Market Seniors; she was a founding member of the 30 UP Club, a lifelong member of the Liberal party, a past member of St. Peter's CWL and a member of the CN#2 Pensioners' Club. Marguerite’s family wishes to thank the staff at the SJRH and Rhonda Locsin for the wonderful care and support they provided. Resting at Fitzpatrick’s Funeral Home, 100 Waterloo Street, Saint John (634-1965), with visiting on Friday, January 10, 2014 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, January 11, 2014 at 10:00 am from the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, 91 Waterloo Street, Saint John. Interment will take place in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
