Obituary of Donald Frederick Horgan
<p>The family and friends of Donnie are saddened at his passing after a long and very courageous battle with the complications of diabetes. Donnie died at the Loch Lomond Villa, Saint John on Friday, August 9, 2013.</p> <p> </p> <p>Born at Saint John in 1931, he was a son of the late Daniel Joseph Horgan and Beatrice Mary (King) Horgan. He was born at the family homestead on the Churchland Road, and lived for many years in that same area which he loved so well. Hunting, fishing, gardening and enjoying a beer with good friends and neighbours gave this man happiness and contentment his whole life.</p> <p> </p> <p>Donnie was predeceased by his loving wife and best friend Mary (McLaughlin). Survived by his sons Gary and Shane (grandsons Justin and Devon) as well as by his brothers Murray (Rae), Daniel and Noel (Margie). In addition to his wife and parents he was predeceased by brothers: Harold, Ken, Cyril and sisters Doris, Rita, Winnifred, Eileen and Beatrice.</p> <p> </p> <p>Donnie worked his whole life as a respected chef at the Saint John General Hospital , retiring from Ridgewood Veterans Wing. For many years he was a dedicated member of the Armed Forces Reserves.</p> <p>Resting at <strong>Fitzpatrick’s Funeral Home, 100 Waterloo Street</strong>, Saint John, (634-1965) with visiting on Sunday from 2:00 – 4:00 and 7:00 – 9:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, August 12, 2013 from St. Joseph’s Church, 4347 Loch Lomond Road, at 11:00 AM followed by a reception at the Hope Centre and internment at St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Golden Grove. <a href="http://www.fitzpatrickfh.com">www.fitzpatrickfh.com</a></p>
