Obituary of Mary Katherine Mackin

<p>The family of Mary Katherine (Horgan) Mackin, loving wife of Gregory Mackin wish to announce her death on Saturday May 25, 2013 at Saint John Regional Hospital,&nbsp; born in Saint John on June 11, 1932. She was the only child of the late Grace (McManus) and Cornelius Horgan.</p> <p>Mary graduated in 1949, from St Vincent&rsquo;s High School, in 1953 from Nursing at St Joseph&rsquo;s Hospital and 1954 from St Michael&rsquo;s Hospital in Toronto in Operating Room Technics program. She worked at St Joseph&rsquo;s Hospital in Saint John for a number of years eventually leaving her role to devote her life to bringing up her family.</p> <p>She was a member of Stella Maris CWL and Knights of Columbus Council 6595 Ladies Auxiliary. Mary was a lifelong member of Cathedral of Immaculate Conception and Stella Maris Parish in East Saint John.</p> <p>She took her greatest pride and joy in the lives of her family and grandsons.</p> <p>Besides her husband Greg, she is survived by her daughter Kathy (Michael) Hogan and sons Kevin (Louise) and Mark (Brenda) and daughter-in-law; Connie Mackin. She was predeceased by her son Dr. Michael Mackin.</p> <p>Mary was blessed with six grandsons and took great joy in them, Sean and Mark Hogan, Christopher Mackin and Matthew, Joshua and Christian Mackin.</p> <p>Mary was also survived by a brother in law and several sisters in law as well as many nieces and nephews.</p> <p>Resting at <strong>Fitzpatrick&rsquo;s Funeral Home, 100 Waterloo Street, Saint John</strong> with visiting on Tuesday 7:00 &ndash; 9:00 and Wednesday 3:00&nbsp; - 8:00 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday May 30 2013 at 12:00 PM from Stella Maris Church, Bayside Drive.&nbsp; Interment will take place in St Joseph&rsquo;s Cemetery.&nbsp; In lieu of flowers those who wish remembrances may consider donations to ALS society of New Brunswick, Stella Maris Church Renovation Fund or charity of one&rsquo;s choice.</p>
