Obituary of M. Geraldine Garnett

<p>Garnett, M. Geraldine &nbsp;- It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Mary Rita "Geraldine" Garnett (nee Richard), &nbsp;at the age of 91 on February 5, 2013, at the Rocmaura Nursing Home, wife of the late Peter Garnett.</p> <p>&nbsp; She was born in Moncton, N. B. on January 24, 1922 and was the daughter of the late Louis Edgar Richard and Sophie Philanese (Arsenault) Richard.</p> <p>&nbsp;Gerry is survived by her sons, Peter Garnett and Robert (Brenda) Garnett of Saint John, N. B. and daughters Eileen (Stuart) MacDonald of Rothesay, N. B. and Janice (Greg) Stevens of Rockland, Ontario. &nbsp;She is survived by her sister Lorraine Arsenault of Charlottetown, P.E.I.&nbsp; She is also survived by her grandchildren Robert (Alyson) Garnett, Jared Garnett (Amanda Hooton), Tomalyn (Mike) Young of Saint John, N. B., Heather (Cory) Graham, Lauren MacDonald and Scott MacDonald of Rothesay, N. B., Mathea, Garnett and Jon Stevens of Rockland, Ontario and great grandchildren, Hudson Young and Logan Garnett, as well as several nieces and nephews.&nbsp;</p> <p>In addition to her husband of 60 years, she was predeceased by her brothers; &nbsp;Alfred, Raymond, Emery, and Laurie Richard, and her sister; Sister Aileen Richard of the Precious Blood Monastery.</p> <p>&nbsp;She was a member of the Catholic Women&rsquo;s League Honour Guard and volunteered on Sunday evenings counting the collections of the weekend masses.&nbsp; For many years, she also volunteered at the C.Y.O. Bingo.&nbsp; Her little piece of heaven was at the cottage at Amherst Cove, P.E.I. and she loved to sit on the deck overlooking the Northumberland Strait, listening to the waves.&nbsp; She loved to attend the Music Festival performances of her children year after year and listen to the Saint John school choirs.&nbsp; She took a great interest in the activities of her grandchildren, whether it was hockey games, choir performances, or school concerts.&nbsp;</p> <p>Resting at <strong>Fitzpatrick&rsquo;s Funeral Home, 100 Waterloo Street, </strong>Saint John (634-1965) with visiting on Thursday, February 7, 2013 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9.&nbsp; A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 12:10 on Friday, February 8, 2013 at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception.&nbsp; Interment will take place at St. Joseph&rsquo;s Cemetery immediately after the mass, followed by a reception at Fitzpatrick&rsquo;s Funeral Home.&nbsp; Donations made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, the Canadian Celiac Association or donor&rsquo;s choice would be appreciated by the family.</p>
