Obituary of Sister Mary Thulda Devlin

<p>The death of Sister Mary Thulda Devlin (Sister Francis Xavier) occurred on Thursday, December 6, 2012 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in St. Stephen, NB, she was a daughter of the late Francis and Elsie Anne (Cloney) Devlin.</p> <p>She was employed at Ganong&rsquo;s Factory in St. Stephen, NB and later was a Registered Nursing Assistant before entering the Sisters of Charity of the Immaculate Conception on February 2, 1945. Sister Devlin served from 1946-1964 at Our Lady of Mercy Home in Vancouver, BC. From 1964-1980, Sister ministered at Villa Madonna, St. Vincent&rsquo;s Convent, the Mater Misercordia Home and St. Joseph&rsquo;s Convent Saint John, NB and at Mary&rsquo;s Home in Moncton NB. Sister Devlin was Nursing Supervisor and Coordinator at Ruth Ross Residence for several years. While living at Conway Place, Sister served as Hospitality Hostess. Sister Devlin resided at Ruth Ross Residence in Pastoral Care for Sisters.</p> <p>Sister Mary is survived by several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.</p> <p>Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her sisters; Margaret Ethel Devlin, in infancy and Dorothy Higgins, her brothers; Bernard, Charlie, and George Devlin.</p> <p>Resting at Ruth Ross Residence with visiting on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM, with a Prayer Vigil that evening at 7:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the Ruth Ross Residence, Carmel Chapel, on Monday, December 10, 2012 at 10:00 AM. Interment to take place in the Sisters of Charity Plot in St. Joseph&rsquo;s Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care and direction of <strong>Fitzpatrick&rsquo;s Funeral Home, 100 Waterloo Street</strong>, Saint John, NB (506-634-1965).</p>
