Obituary of Gertrude Theresa Horgan

<p>The death of Gertrude Theresa Horgan, of Saint John, NB, wife of the late Harold Horgan, occurred peacefully on Monday, October 22, 2012 at Bobby&rsquo;s Hospice.</p> <p>Born in Saint John, on February 17, 1927, she was a daughter of the late Walter and Mary (MacDonald) Daley.</p> <p>Gertrude was raised in St. John the Baptist Parish, where she also taught school for forty years. She volunteered with the Rite of Christian Initiations of Adults. Gertrude was a member of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception for more than two decades, where she volunteered as a lector and sacristan. On December 8, 2006, Gertrude was delighted to receive the Bishop Dollard Medal of Merit by Bishop Emeritus J. Edward Troy.</p> <p>She will be missed by her sons, Patrick (Jennifer) of Saint John and Sean (Melissa) of Rothesay, NB, sister; Mary Leahy (Bill) of Saint John, grandchildren; Catherine, Mollie, Joshua, and Olivia Horgan, as well as several nieces and nephews.</p> <p>Besides her husband, she was predeceased by her sisters, Kathleen "Kay" Connell and Joan Gaynes and brothers; Charles and Ranald Daley.</p> <p>Resting at Fitzpatrick&rsquo;s Funeral Home, 100 Waterloo Street, Saint John (634-1965) with visiting on Tuesday from 7-9 PM and Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception on Thursday, October 25, 2012 at 12:10 PM. Interment to take place in St. Joseph&rsquo;s Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to Bobby&rsquo;s Hope House, would be appreciated.</p>
