Obituary of J. RAYMOND BRITT

<p>BRITT, J. RAYMOND-It is with sadness that the family announces the death of J. Raymond Britt, husband of Ellen (Hogan) Britt, on Saturday, January 14, 2012 at the Royal Columbia Hospital, New Westminster, B.C.</p> <p><br />Born at st. Joseph's Hospital, Saint John, on June 19, 1931, he was a son of the late Leslie J. and Mary A. (Donovan) Britt.&nbsp; Raymond graduated from St. Vincent's Boys High School and attended St. Mary's College in Brockville, Ont. He then spent a number of years as an officer in the RCAF, stationed for a time in Newfoundland where he met and married Ellen, his wife of 53 years. Following that he took a position managing a Bowerings store in Dorval, Quebec, and another Bowerings store in St. John's Nfld. After leaving Bowerings, Glaxo Pharmaceutical Company became his final employer for the next 25 years, retiring in 1996 in Ontario. He and his wife returned to live in Rothesay for ten years after his retirement. During that time he became a member of the Riverside Golf Club where he enjoyed his favorite game.</p> <p><br />He and his brothers played at the Hampton Golf Club as well, always ready for that next round of golf. His next move was to Hamilton, Ont., before his most recent move to Vancouver. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Kenneth Britt. Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, Tony Britt (Irene) of Chatham, New Jersey, and Kenneth Britt (Will) of Burlington, Ont.; two daughters, Dawn Sadko (Brent) of White Rock, B.C., and Kelly Britt of Chateauguay, Quebec; six grandchildren, Jenna and Christoper Sadko, Alexander and Erik Britt, and Jacob and Olivia Saray. He also leaves his siblings, three brothers, Dr. Daniel Britt (Olga) of Rothesay, Jack Britt (Marjorie) of Saint John, and Gerald Britt (Mary) of Trenton, Ont.; three sisters, Shirley Dysart of Saint John, Joan D'Amours (Guy) of Sorel, Quebec, and Anne Lavasseur of Saint John; one sister-in-law, Bonita Britt of Fredericton; and many nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.</p> <p><br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; A celebration of Ray's life was recently held in Surrey B.C. and a Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Pius X Church, Saint John, at a later date.<br /><br /></p>
