Obituary of Julia VICZKO

<p>VICZKO, Sr. Julia-the death of Sister Julia Anna Viczko (Sr. Mary Gregory) occurred at Ruth Ross Residence on Thursday January 5, 2012.</p> <p><br />Sister was born in Prud' Homme, Sask., on May 24, 1911, a daughter of the late Steve and Ester (Hegedus) Viczko. She entered the Sisters of Charity of the Immaculate Conception on February 13, 1931. Sister was one of the founding Sisters of St. Vincent's Hospital on Vancouver in 1939 where she served in the laundry and cook's assistant until 1953.</p> <p><br />Sister served as a cook and homemaker in several convents across Canada, Vancouver, Holdfast, Sask., Winnipeg, Wetaskwin, Alberta, Surrey, B.C., and at Saint John and St. Stephen in New Brunswick. Sister retired to St. Vincent's Convent in 1997 and has resided at Ruth Ross Residence since 1999. She was predeceased by three brothers, John, Louis, and Steve Viczko; and three sisters, Elizabeth Kral, Helen Miskolzie, and Mary Leaderhouse. She is survived by one brother, Albert (Rose Panceau) Viczko of Youbou, B.C.; three sisters, Erma (Ted) Smith of Unity, Sask., Margaret (Kenneth) Radu of Seattle, Washington, and Lena (Ernest) Myers of Burnaby, B.C.; and several nieces and nephews, including Sister Ernestine, Sisters of Service.<br /><br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Resting at Ruth Ross Residence with visiting on Friday from 7 to 9. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Ruth Ross Residence Chapel on Saturday morning at ten o'clock. Interment will take place in the Sisters of Charity Plot in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Prayer Vigil will be held on Friday evening at seven o'clock.</p>
