Obituary of Harold K. Stackhouse

<p>STACKHOUSE, Harold K.-Harold K. "Hal" Stackhouse passed away peacefully at Ridgewood Veterans' Wing on Thursday, June 23, 2011. Born in Saint John on May 14, 1922, he was the youngest son of the late George and Loretta (Cameron) Stackhouse.</p> <p>He served overseas during World War II with the 2nd Artillery as a gunner and was present for the liberation of Holland. After the war he and his parents owned and operated the Lancaster Do-nut &amp; Pastry Shop for a number of years. He retired from Canada Post in 1987 after 22 years of service and had been a member of the original group that entered the postal codes for Saint John.&nbsp; He loved sports both as a participant and a fan. He was a past member of the Hampton Golf Course where he shot a hole-in-one when he was 79.</p> <p>He was predeceased by a son, Paul; and a brother, Ronald. He leaves to mourn his wife of 59 years, Clara (White) Stackhouse; two daughters, Patricia (Brian) Gallagher of Saint John, and Pamela (Edwin) Bourque of Rothesay; five grandchildren, Paul, Scott, and Heather Gallagher, and Danielle and Emilie Bourque; one brother, Fred (Marion) Stackhouse of Saint John; one sister-in-law, Ella White&nbsp; of Saint John; and several nieces and nephews.</p> <p>Resting at Fitzpatrick's Funeral Home, 100 Waterloo St., with visiting on Sunday from 7 to 9 and on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9.&nbsp; Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Stella Maris Church on Tuesday morning at ten o'clock. Interment will take place in St. Joseph's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Animal Rescue League would be appreciated. Member of the Royal Canadian Legion will have a Memorial Service on Sunday evening at seven o'clock. <br /><br /><br /></p>
