Obituary of Frances Eileen COLE

<p>COLE, Frances Eileen- Peacefully at home, Frances&nbsp; Eileen Cole, wife of the late Bliss T. Cole, on June 14, 2011. Born in Saint John on July 12, 1925, she was the daughter of the late William and Kathleen (Costigan) Warner.&nbsp; Eileen was predeceased by brothers, Father Donald, William, Alfred, John, and Clifford; sisters, Marie, Margaret, Lenore, and Dorothy Anne, and very recently by her dear husband, Bliss.<br /><br />Eileen is survived by children David (Anne) of Austin, Texas, Phillip (Karen) of Truro, N.S., Anne Thompson (Frank) of Liverpool, N.S., and Margaret Cole and Kathy Whittle (George), both of Saint John; 15 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. Eileen graduated fro St. Vincent's High School in 1942, then graduated from N.B. Teachers Collegeat the age of 17. She started her teaching career in one-room schools houses in the villages of Enniskillen, Tymouth Creek, and Newtown.It was in Newtown that she met Bliss.<br /><br />Eileen went on to teach kindergarten and catechism at St. Pius X Catholic Church. She was also a long serving member and Past-President of St. Pius Catholic Women's League. She was affectionately referred to as "Big Eil" by her immediate family, certainly not for her stature, but for her strength of character.<br /><br />Her family wish to express their deep appreciation for the kindness and care provided by Delores, Ann, Valerie, Tony, Bev, and Liz, as well as the Extra-Mural nurses, the VON regular home care worker, Father Douglas McNeill and Dr. Mark Foster.<br /><br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Resting at Fitzpatrick's Funeral Home, 100 Waterloo St., with visiting on Thursday from 2 to 8PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Pius X Church on Friday morning at eleven o'clock.</p> <p><br />Interment will take place in St. Joseph's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer Society of Canada; the Extra-Mural Nursing Program; or St. Pius X Building Fund would be appreciated.</p>
