Obituary of Rita T. Murphy

MURPHY-the death of Rita T. Murphy of 29 Cliff St., widow of Joseph B. Murphy, occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Wednesday, August 6, 2003. Mrs. Murphy was born in Hampton, a daughter of the late Ernest and Mary Ellen (Boyle) Ryan, and had resided the greater part of her life in Saint John. She was a graduate of the Provincial Normal School and had attended St. Joseph's Hospital School of Nursing and Mount Carmel Academy. She was a member of the Cathedral Parish Bereavement Committee and the Legion of Mary. She was pre-deceased by a brother, Maurice Ryan, and a sister, Evelyn Ryan. She is survived by two sons Patrick J. of Saint John, and Michael K. (Wendy) of Grand-Bay; six daughters, Anne Marie Everett of Guelph, Ont., Colleen Maloney (Gerald) of Saint John, Moira Bosse (Norman) of Saint John, Carmel Oster (Peter) of Halifax, Mary Lawrence (John) of Saint John, and Margaret Volke (Brian) of Calgary; one brother Joseph Ryan (Jean) of Fredericton; one sister, Helen Ryan of Fredericton; one sister-in-law, Margaret Ryan of Fredericton; 29 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Resting at Fitzpatrick's Funeral Home, 100 Waterloo St., with visiting on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception on Saturday morning at 10:30. Interment will take place in Holy Cross Cemetery.
