Obituary of Jennie Viola Evans
The death of Jennie Viola Evans of 1 Alma St., widow of William George Evans, occurred peacefully at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Monday, April 12, 2004. Mrs. Evans was born in North Forks, N.B., a daughter of the late Alexander and Delilah (Pascal) Knox, and had resided the greater part of her life in Saint John. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was a lifelong member of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. Mum was a woman of great faith. Besides her husband, she was pre-deceased by two sons, William George Jr., and Bernard; four sisters, Mirilla MacCollum, Dora Murray, Sally Burchill, and Alice Dunham; and three brothers, Melvin, Anthony, and Charles Knox. A loving and caring mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she is survived by three daughters, Myrna Drew (Fred) of Lower Sackville, N.S., and Donna Sully (Tom), and Cathy Cooper (Don), both of Saint John; one son, Donald Evans (Dale) of Rothesay; one daughter-in-law, Dianne Evans of Quispamsis; 15 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Resting at Fitzpatrick's Funeral Home , 100 Waterloo St.,with visiting on Tuesday and Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception on Thursday morning at twelve o'clock. Interment will take place in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
