Obituary of Sister Mary E. Callaghan

<p>CALLAGHAN-the death of Sister Mary E. Callaghan (Sr. Mary Albina) occurred at Ruth Ross Residence on Wednesday, March 24, 2010. Sister was born in Grand Falls, N.B., a daughter of the late Herbert and Elizabeth (Beaulieu) Callaghan. She entered the Sisters of Charity of the Immaculate Conception on June 29, 1929. Sister Callaghan's ministry included housekeeping, cooking, sewing, portress, and excellent laundry work. She served at St. Patrick's Orphanage, Saint John, Rosary Hall, Fredericton, St. Peter's Convent, the Infant's Home, Mount Carmel Convent, and St. Vincent's Novitiate in Saint John. She also served at Maliseet, N.B. Moncton, Marycrest, St. Joseph's Convent, and St.&nbsp; Vincent's Convent until her retirement to Ruth Ross Residence in 1989.</p> <p><br />She was predeceased by three sisters, Mrs. Doris Gagnon, Mrs. Maria Martin, and Mrs. Hazel Dori. She is survived by three half-brothers, Walter Curran of Sydney, N.S., Bernard Curran of Bainsville, Ont., and Lawrence Curran of Perth-Andover; and three half-sisters,&nbsp; Mrs. Pauline Ferris of Saint John, Mrs. Eileen (Edward) Jordan of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Mrs. Theresa Hepburn of Manchester, Conn.<br /><br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Resting at St. Vincent's Convent, 31 Cliff St. with visiting on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Vincent's Chapel on Friday morning at ten o'clock.</p> <p><br />Interment will take place in the Sisters of Charity Plot in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Evening Prayer Vigil will be held on Thursday evening at seven o'clock.</p>
