Obituary of Madelene Delaney

DELANEY - With profound sadness the family announces the passing of Madelene Aster (Corkum) Delaney, widow of the late Joseph W. Delaney, on Friday January 29, 2010 at her residence following a brief illness. Born September 21, 1912 at Pleasant Point, N.B., A daughter of the late Simeon and Mabel (Larkin) Corkum. Besides her husband and parents Madelene was predeceased by her son Lou Delaney, sister Marion Humphrey, brothers, Aubrey, Albert, Clyde and Pearl Corkum. Madelene's greatest love in life was her family, faith and friends, this special quality contributed to her being known as "NANNY" to those who loved her. Madelene retired from St. Joseph's Hospital Dietary Dept. in 1977 after several years of service.Nanny also belonged to many societies such as: the Saint Elizabeth Society, Auxiliary member of Legion of Mary, St. Joseph's Hospital Auxiliary, North End Silver Thread Club and a member of Saint Peter's CWL for 63 years. Madelene is survived by her daughter and son in law Pat and Don Taylor of Bains Corner , daughter in law Tiena Delaney. Four grandchildren; Rick Fulton (Bliss), Cindy Blanchard ( Ed), Joe Fulton (Cory), Carla Wetmore (Steve). Eight great-grandchildren: Michael, Jennifer, and Ricky Fulton, Joey (Dee) and Kelly Blanchard, Gavin, Cameron, and Haven Wetmore, great great grandchild Evan Blanchard. Special nieces: Rose Graham, Marylou Joyce, Gloria Milton. Nephews Donald and Darryl Corkum. Resting at Fitzpatrick's Funeral Home, 100 Waterloo St; from where the funeral will be held on Wednesday February 3, 2010 at St. Peter's Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 o'clock.Interment will take place in Holy Cross Cemetery. Visiting on Monday and Tuesday 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm. Donations to St. Peter's Building Fund would be appreciated by the family.
