Obituary of Anita M. Cummings

CUMMINGS-the death of Anita M. Cummings, loving wife of Joseph D. Cummings, occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Thursday, January 14, 2010. Mrs. Cummings was born in Saint John, a daughter of the late Ludger and Jean (Rodday) Cormier. She had been employed in the office at Woolworth's for over twenty-five years and as receptionist for Dr. Lynn Lamont, and most recently for Paddington Station in Brunswick Square. She had been active in the Girl Guides of Canada as a Brownie Leader for over twenty-five years. Besides Joe, her husband of thirty-seven years, she is survived by two daughters, Christine Roy (Nicholas) and Laura McAdam (Justin), both of Saint John; two brothers, Daniel Cormier (Brenda) and Robert Cormier (Sandra), both of Saint John; four sisters, Judith Fournier, Theresa Cormier (James Dulong), and Jean Spence (William), all of Saint John, and Katherine Galey (David) of Sussex; one granddaughter, Madelaine Roy; a special aunt, Doris Quinlan; and several nieces and nephews. Anita enjoyed giving to others and making others smile. The pride and joys in her life were her granddaughter, Madelaine, and her "furry" granddaughter, Sophie Dog. Resting at Fitzpatrick's Funeral Home, 100 Waterloo St., with visiting on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception on Saturday morning at 10:30. Interment will take place in St. Joseph's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Girl Guides of Canada would be appreciated.
