Obituary of Sister Grace E. Kelly

KELLY-the death of Sister Grace E. Kelly (Sr. Marie de Lourdes) occurred at Ruth Ross Residence on Wednesday, December 30, 2009. Sister Kelly was born in Henderson Settlement, Queens Co., N.B., a daughter of the late George and Mary Ann (McCarron) Kelly. She entered the Sisters of Charity of the Immaculate Conception on December 8, 1930. Sister Grace was a Registered Nurse by profession and after receiving further training in this field she became O.R. Supervisor at St. Joseph's Hospital, Saint John, where she served from 1936 until 1978. For a short time Sister cared for children at the Infant's Home in Saint John. She moved to Prince Albert, Sask. and continued her Nursing Ministry there where she was Head Nurse of Day Surgery at Holy Family Hospital. Since 1981 Sister had been involved in volunteering at the Renewal Centre, Fredericton, and then at Rocmaura Nursing Home, Saint John. She was predeceased by her sister, Sister Catherine Mary Kelly, S.C.I.C.; and two brothers, J. Damien and Edward F. Kelly. She is survived by several nieces and nephews. Resting at St. Vincent's Convent, 31 Cliff St., with visiting on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Vincent's Chapel on Monday morning at ten o'clock. Interment will take place in the Sisters of Charity Plot in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Evening Prayer Vigil will be held on Sunday evening at seven o'clock.
