Obituary of Mary Jane Smith

SMITH-the death of Mary Jane Smith of 2487 Candace St., widow of Archibald F. Smith, occurred unexpectedly at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Monday, December 7, 2009. Mary Jane was born in Saint John on May 31, 1943, a daughter of the late Frank and Rita (Fennell) Hunter. She was a graduate of St. Vincent's Girls High School and had been active in St. Ann's parish. She will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother with a pleasant smile for everyone. She was predeceased by a brother, Douglas Hunter. She is survived by two daughters, Krista Hovey (Jon) of Hampton, and Shari Wheaton (Josh) of Quispamsis; one sister, Marjorie McDermott (Paul) of Saint John; three grandchildren, Ethan and Caroline Hovey, and Madison Wheaton; and several nieces; nephews; and cousins Resting at Fitzpatrick's Funeral Home, 100 Waterloo St., with visiting on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Ann's Church on Friday morning at eleven o'clock. Following cremation, interment will take place in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
