Obituary of Jean A. Brown

BROWN-the death of Jean A. Brown of 5 Corkery St., widow of William E. Brown, occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Tuesday, June 16, 2009. Mrs. Brown was born in Saint John, a daughter of the late Ernest and Elizabeth (Drake) Ross. She had been employed at Birks for 25 years until her retirement a number of years ago. She was a life long member of St. Pius X Catholic Women's League and was an avid reader. She was predeceased by a son, William P. Brown; and a daughter, Theresa "Terry" Wirvin. She is survived by two daughters, Susan Lane (Eugene) of Annapolis Royal, N.S., and Jane MacMillan (Bruce) of Saint John; one brother, Fred Ross of Saint John; one sister, Theresa Smith of North Bay, Ont.; 13 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and Mary Maher of Saint John, Elizabeth McDermott of Fredericton, and Brian Wirvin of Wolfville, N.S. There will be no visitation at the request of the family. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Pius X Church on Saturday morning at ten o'clock. Interment will take place in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Remembrances may be made in Jean's name to the Canadian Cancer Society or the charity of your choice.
