Obituary of Valerie A. Mellor

MELLOR-Valerie A. Mellor passed away at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Wednesday, May 20, 2009. Daughter of the late Wilson and Mary Celina "Lena" (Martin) Patterson. Born in West Saint John in 1934, where she spent most of her younger life and later in Clarendon and Fredericton. She attended St. Patrick's, St. Peter's, and St. Vincent's Schools, and attended assorted arts courses. She was active in professional art and advertising management, retiring in the early 1980's. She was predeceased by her sister, Joy Duncan, on May 9, 2009. She is survived by her loving husband of forty years, Russell A. Mellor; 3 brothers, George H. of Ontario, and Wilson L. and Wilfred P., both of Clarendon; two sisters, Faye (Donald) Jones of Ontario, and Linda Cornfield of Clarendon; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins in Canada and the U.S.A. Resting at Fitzpatrick's Funeral Home, 100 Waterloo St., with visiting on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to9. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of the Assumption Church on Friday morning at twelve o'clock. Interment will take place in St. Augustine's Cemetery, Westfield. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society, the Canadian Diabetes Association, or the charity of donor's choice would be appreciated.
