Obituary of Martha Emily Blanchard

Blanchard, Martha Emily- The death of Martha Emily Blanchard of Saint John, NB wife of the late Wilfred C. Blanchard, occurred on Friday, March 13, 2009 at St. Joseph's Hospital.Born in North Rustico, PEI, she was a daughter of the late Peter and Mary (Gauthier) Gallant. Martha worked as a short order cook for 60 years at various resturants, and volunteered at the Soup Kitchen over top of the City Market. Martha is survived by two sons Terrence of Saint John, NB, and James of Toronto, ON, one daughter Pamela Tofts of Saint John, NB, one brother Oliver Gallant (Fay) of Alliston, ON, and a sister Emma Francis of Lennox Island, PEI, eleven grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Martha was predeceased by a daughter Leona Hayes and a son Ronald W. Blanchard. Resting at Fitzpatrick's Funeral Home 100 Waterloo Street, with Visiting on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St.Pius X Church on Tuesday, March 17th, 2009 at 12:00 noon. Interment to take place in St. Joseph's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations made to the charity of the donor's choice.
