Obituary of Harold F. Cooper

COOPER-the death of Harold F. "Tootie" Cooper of Loch Lomond Villa, husband of the late Joann E. (Breen) Cooper, occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Monday, March 2, 2009. "Tootie" was born in Saint John, a son of the late Walter and Maud (Hurley) Cooper. He served overseas with the Royal Canadian Army during the Second World War and was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion and the Artillery Association. He had been a meat-cutter and self-employed jobber. He is survived by two sons, Phillip (Tina) and Gary (Susan), both of Quispamsis; one daughter, Dawn (Les) Wood of Head of Jeddore, N.S.; one brother, David of Saint John; one sister, Jean Valardo of Saint John; six grandchildren, Michelle MacKenzie, Michael Wood, Erin, Megan, Danielle, and Josh Cooper; five great-grandchildren, Brendan, Jayden, Adam, Cameron, and Ewan; and several nieces and nephews. Resting at Fitzpatrick's Funeral Home, 100 Waterloo St., with visiting on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Stella Maris Church on Thursday afternoon at 12:05. Interment will take place in St. Joseph's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to Stella Maris Renovation Fund or the charity of your choice would be appreciated. Members of the Royal Canadian Legion will hold a memorial service on Wednesday evening at seven o'clock.
