Obituary of Joseph Matthew Maillet

Surrounded by his family, Joseph Matthew Maillet of Quispamsis, husband of Irene (McGuire) Maillet, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 14, 2016. Born in Saint John, on April 13, 1948, he was a son of the late Albert and Florence (McGrath) Maillet. Joe was employed at the Saint John Dry Dock for several years as a steel worker. He was a member of the Father Harris Council #6766 Knights of Columbus. "Measure twice - cut once". Joe had a great love of woodworking and was a fine carpenter. He built everything from cutting boards to houses with tried and true excellence. His craftmanship was well renowned. Joe's pride and joy were his children and grandchildren, who he loved fiercely. Irene, as Joe's wife and caregiver, was his "angel". He loved her with all his heart and without condition. Besides his wife, Joe is survived by his children; Sara Tokach (Christopher) of Quispamsis, Mark Maillet (Lesley) of Rothesay, and Nicole LeBlanc (Matthieu) of Saint John, brothers; Paul (Cheryl) of Willow Grove, and Peter (Heather) of Fredericton, sisters; Anne Marie Roy (Raymond) of Norton, Alberta McDow of Thunder Bay, ON, Rita Doherty (Bill) of Dundas, ON, and Teresa Brown (Maurice) of Saint John, mother in law, Madeline McGuire, daughter in law, Lisa Maillet, grandchildren: Maxim and Samuel Maillet, Jane and Paige Tokach, Alexandre and Zoë LeBlanc, Emily, Hannah, and Henry Oland as well as several nieces and nephews. Joe was predeceased by his sister Doreen Horgan and brothers in law Douglas McDow and Danny Horgan. Resting at Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home, 152 Pettingill Road, Quispamsis (849-2119) with visiting on Friday from 2-4PM & 6-8PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, Rothesay, on Saturday, September 17, 2016 at 11AM. Interment to take place at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to Our Lady of Perpetual Help Building Fund, Bobby's Hospice or to the Canadian Cancer Society.
