Obituary of Roy J. E. Macdonald

MACDONALD-the death of Roy J. E. Macdonald of Loch Lomond Villa occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Wednesday, January 2, 2008. Mr.Macdonald was born in Saint John on May 7, 1922, a son of the late Thomas J. and Margaret (McGrath) Macdonald. He had been employed at the Mayfair Theatre and the Regent Tavern. He had been an usher at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception for many years. Like his mother, Roy was fond of bingo throughout his life and he enjoyed the friendship of many bingo enthusiasts. He loved to walk and was well known and easily recognized by those he would greet on his daily jaunts through the downtown area. Roy lived most recently at Loch Lomond Villa and special thanks go to the many caring staff who befriended him there. He is survived by his brother, Donald J. Macdonald of Victoria, B.C.; four nephews, David Macdonald of Kitchener, Ont., Danny Macdonald of Toronto, Joel Hopkins of London, Ont., and Roddy Macdonald of Halifax; as well as several grandnieces, grandnephews, and cousins. Resting at Fitzpatrick's Funeral Home, 100 Waterloo St., with visiting on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception on Monday afternoon at 12:05. Interment will take place in St. Joseph's Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, donations to the charity of your choice would be appreciated.
