Obituary of Margaret Cecilia Whitaker

WHITAKER-the death of Margaret Cecilia Whitaker of 370 Sandy Point Rd., widow of Alfred G. Whitaker, occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Sunday, December 30, 2007. Mrs. Whitaker was born in Saint John, the last surviving member of the family of the late John and Louise (O'Brien) O'Leary. She was a founding parishioner of St. Pius X Church where she had been a member for over fifty years and was a member of the Catholic Women's League. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was predeceased by four brothers, Frank, James, Daniel, and William O'Leary; three sisters, Katherine O'Leary, Mary Willard, and Helen Corbeil; and a grandson, Stephen Whitaker. She is survived by five sons, Ronald (Shirley) of Hampton, Raymond (Margaret "Jane") of Rothesay, Robert (Marilyn) of Saint John, Murray (Christine) of Grand Bay-Westfield, and Donald (Autumn) of Grand Bay-Westfield; three daughters, Mary Ann Collette (Robert) of Saint John, Lynda Gilbert (Gregory) of Burton, N.B., and Brenda Mulcahy (Patrick) of Naples, Fla.; fourteen grandchildren, Michael (Sarah)Whitaker, Michelle Fulton (Thomas), Mark Whitaker, Paul (Kimberley) Whitaker, Shelley Morgan (Brian), Jeffery Collette, Giselle Bruce (Wade), Patrick Whitaker, Andrew Whitaker, Craig (Rosalyn) Nickerson, Christopher (Judy) Nickerson, Stephanie Whitaker, Megan Whitaker, and Justin Whitaker; 14 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Resting at Fitzpatrick's Funeral Home, 100 Waterloo St., with visiting on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Pius X Church on Wednesday morning at eleven o'clock. Interment will take place in St. Joseph's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the charity of your choice would be appreciated.
