Obituary of Bernice A. Landers

LANDERS- the death of Bernice A. Landers of 33 Smythe St., widow of Ralph Landers, occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Wednesday, July 18, 2007. Mrs. Landers was born in Saint John, a daughter of the late William and Elizabeth (Garvin) Lean. She was predeceased by a sister, Mary Wallace; and a grandchild, Shannon Landers. "Bernie" will be remembered for her strength, tenacity, and wry sense of humour. She stayed home to raise her children but later enjoyed a wonderful career at the antique shop. Throughout life, "Bernie" had a loved for hockey, family card games and cooking, especially her famous Arrowroot Squares. She is survived by two sons, Michael (Judy) of Ont., and L. Ralph of Saint John; four daughters, Marlene Comeau (Hilton) of Shediac, Liz Isaac of Saint John, Vicky DeForest (John) of Kentville, N.S., and Lynn Lambert of Saint John; four sisters, Eleanor Profit of Ont., Yvonne Boyne of N.S., Beryl Keleher of N.S., and Angela Young of Ont.; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. At Bernie's request, there will be no visitation at the funeral home. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception on Friday morning at twelve o'clock. Interment will take place in St. Joseph's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the C.N.I.B. or the charity of your choice would be appreciated.
