Obituary of Ellen Constance Hunter Jenkins

JENKINS-the death of Ellen "Nellie" Constance Hunter Jenkins occurred at Loch Lomond Villa on Sunday, May 20, 2007. Mrs. Jenkins was born in Medford, Maine, on February 26, 1906, a daughter of the late James Alfred and Frances (Craig) Stackhouse, and had resided the greater part of her life in Saint John. She was predeceased by her husband, Charles Jenkins; her son, George J. Jenkins; her daughter, Lorraine (Jenkins) Spears; her brothers, Bill, Alfred, Ralph, John, and George Stackhouse; and her sister, Elizabeth "Midge" Walsh. Ellen is survived by her daughter-in-law, Carmen Jenkins of Saint John; her grandchildren, Claire Jenkins of Fredericton, Pauline Price (Mike) of Saint John, and Mark Spears of Montreal; her great-grandchildren, Christian and Alexa Robichaud of Fredericton, and Justin and Amanda Price of Saint John; her sister, Carrie Devine of Saint John; her loving nephew, Ralph Walsh of Montreal; her adopted grand-daughter and friend, Faye McKendrick of Saint John; and several nieces, nephews, and friends. With her wonderful attitude towards life and marvellous sense of humour, Ellen was an inspiration to everyone and attributed her longevity to walking. A "Fairville Girl", she began a career at Simms Brush Factory before dedicating her life to her family. An avid craftsperson and talented carpenter, she was noted for her home renovations. Thank you to the staff of Loch Lomond Villa for the years of love and care! We'll miss you Nanny. Resting at Fitzpatrick's Funeral Home, 100 Waterloo St., with visiting on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception on Wednesday morning at twelve o'clock. Interment will take place in St. Joseph's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to Romero Houe or the Saint John Boys and Girls Club would be appreciated.
