Obituary of Mary Bernadine Conlogue

CONLOGUE-it is with deep sadness that the family of Mary Bernadine Conlogue announces her passing on Wednesday, May 9, 2007. Bernadine was born in Saint John on May 20, 1912, the oldest daughter of the late Daniel and Ethel (Murphy) Conlogue. For the past 5 years Bernadine resided in Rocmaura Nursing Home. Bernadine was a dedicated social worker throught her entire career. With Fr. Frank McDonald she began the Catholic Welfare Bureau to serve the needs of the less fortunate in our diocese. Following this, Bernadine assumed responsibilities for the Children's Aid Society where her love of children brought her so much joy as families came together. Her last position was that of supervisor for the N.B. Dept. of Social Services, which she held until her retirement in 1977. Bernadine was a lifelong member of the Catholic Women's League and St. Peter's Parish. She was predeceased by her borther, Louis; and her sisters, Madeline, Jean, and Clare. Bernadine has left to mourn two sisters, Helen McLean and Angela McCarthy, as well as 5 nieces; 4 nephews; and several cousins. Resting at Fitzpatrick's Funeral Home, 100 Waterloo St., with visiting on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Peter's Church on Saturday morning at ten o'clock. Interment will take place in St. Joseph's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer Society or Rocmaura Foundation Inc. would be appreciated.
