Obituary of J. Albert Montague

J. Albert "Bunker" Montague of 507 Prospect St. West passed peacefully into God's hands and back into the embrace of his beloved wife, Marie, on Tuesday, December 19, 2006, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Bunker was born on Harrison St. in the North End, the youngest son of the late John "Jack" and Annie (McCarthy) Montague, and was the last surviving member of his immediate family. In 1943 he married Marie and moved to Fairville where they lived for over 60 years. Bunker was a longtime employee of Commercial Equipment. He was well known and respected in the automotive business as well as for his community involvement. He was predeceased by his wife, Marie, on December 16, 2006; his youngest daughter, Debbie, in 1986; his first grandchild, Jennifer Lawton, in 1999; his brothers, Gregory, Joseph "Joe", and John "Jackie" Montague; and his sisters, Mary and Genevieve Montague. He is survived by his five children, Lynn Montague, Paul Montague, Judy Lawton (John), Jane Peters (Robert), and Kathy Brown (Kevin), all of Saint John; his eight grandchildren, whom he took great joy from and great pride in, Lori and Jeff Lawton, Patrick, Timothy, and Paul Montague, Kathy Belanger (Stephane) and Michael Peters, and Christopher and Andrew Brown; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; as well as his "adopted" daughter and friend, Meridith Allaby; and special friends, Cathy MacDonald and Claire Gogan. Resting at Fitzpatrick's Funeral Home, 100 Waterloo St., with visiting on Wednesday and Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Rose of Lima Church on Friday morning at ten o'clock. Interment will take place in Holy Cross cemetery.
