Obituary of Sister Jean V. Lundy

LUNDY-the death of Sister Jean V. Lundy (Sr. M. Patricia) occurred at Ruth Ross Resience on Tuesday, September 26, 2006. Sr. Lundy was born in Saskatoon, a daughter of the late Patrick and Anne (Slavin) Lundy. Sister Jean entered the Sisters of Charity of the Immaculate Conception on January 6, 1939. Sister earned her teaching license and taught grades one and two at St. Alphonsus School and St. Gerard's School in Edmonton. Sr. Lundy received her Bachelor of Education from the University of Alberta. She taught at St. Francis of Assisi School in Vancouver and later at St. Patrick's Orphanage in Prince Albert, Sask. Sr. Jean later served in the Pastoral Care Dept. at Holy Family Hospital in Prince Albert. Sister taught catechetical programs for many years in Winnipeg and in Burnaby, B.C. Sister attended Newman College in Edmonton and became Assistant in the Formation of Postulants in Edmonton. Sister Jean retired to Ruth Ross Residence in 1996, where she remained active in various ministries. She was predeceased by five brothers, Saemus, John, Joseph, Patrick, and Arthur Lundy; and two sisters, Sister Sarah "Sadie" Lundy, S.C.I.C., and Mrs. Rose McKenzie. She is survived by several nieces and nephews. Resting at St. Vincent's Convent, 31 Cliff St., with visiting on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Vincent's Chapel on Thursday morning at ten o'clock. Interment will take place in the Sisters of Charity Plot in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Prayer Vigil will be held on Wednesday evening at seven o'clock.
