Obituary of Rita Moore

Moore-it is with sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our dear aunt and sister and stepmother Dorothea Rita Moore "Dot" (nee Connell), of Narrowleaf Grove, Dartmouth, N.S., formerly of Woodward Ave., Saint John, N.B., widow of George Joseph Moore, occurred on Sunday August 6, 2006, in Nova Scotia. Born and educated in Saint John, she was a daughter of the late Joseph R. and Melina (LeBlanc) Connell. Since 2002 Dot resided with her niece, Cathy Brown of Dartmouth, N.S.. She was an employee of Blue Cross, Personnel Division for 32 years. She was a strong leader and advocate for women's rights in the workplace. Her colleagues remember her setting high professional standards and bringing out the best in her co-workers and everyone around her. She was a gracious and caring lady who expressed a great love for her children and who took great enjoyment in their presence. Always generous, kind and thoughtful to those less fortunate. She was predeceased by two brothers Edward and Kenneth Connell, and one sister, Helen Stanton. She is survived by one brother, Arthur P. Connell of Saint John; one sister-in-law, Marjorie Marsten of Saint John; brother-in-law, Arthur Stanton of Grand Bay-Westfield, N.B.; four step-children, George Moore Jr., Colleen, Sharon Derry, all of Western Canada, and Patricia Zink of Moncton; and several nieces and nephews. No visiting hours at the Funeral Home by family request. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, on Saturday, August 12, 2006, at 10:00 am. Interment to follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations to the Alzheimer's Society or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
