Obituary of G. BERNICE EVANS

The death of G. Bernice Evans of 11 Colvelly Drive, widow of James H. Evans, occurred Thursday April 6, 2006. Mrs. Evans was born in Saint John, a daughter of the late William and Josephine (Smith) Fisher. She had been Past President of St. Peter's C.W.L.; Past President and Corresponding Secretary of St. Joseph's Hospital Auxiliary; Recording Secretary of the Saint John Women's Liberal Association; Co-facilitator of Journey of Hope Support Group; and a member of both the Saint John Regional Hospital Auxiliary and the Millidgeville Seniors Club. She had belonged to her bridge club for 60 years. She was predeceased by a son, J. Hugh Evans. She is survived by one son, Peter of Saint John; two daughters, Marianna Evans (James Crocker) of Rothesay, and Cynthia 'Cindy' Evans of Saint John; two brothers, Paul Fisher of Kamloops, BC, and William Fisher of Etobicoke, Ont.; four sisters, Eleanor Northway (George) of Rockville, Maryland, Joan Shippel (Warren) of Lindsay, Ont., Rita Dunphy (Michael) of Saint John, and Marie Poole of Saint John; three grandchildren, Zeba, Chloe, and Isobel. Beecie, as she was known by many, was loved by all who knew her. She had a gift of storytelling and making people laugh. Her greatest joy in life was her three grandchildren. Resting at Fitzpatrick's Funeral Home, 100 Waterloo St., with visiting on Saturday and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Peter's Church on Monday morning at 10 o'clock. Interment will take place in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
