Obituary of J. Gerard Gautreau

GAUTREAU-the death of J. Gerard 'Jetto' Gautreau of 36 Willie Ave., husband of the late Helen (Sears-Norwood) Gautreau, occurred unexpectedly at his residence on Thursday, February 23, 2006. Mr. Gautreau was born at Pre de Haut, N.B., a son of the late Capt. William and Angele (Boudreau) Gautreau. He served with the Royal Canadian Army from 1939 until 1967 and was in England and Europe during the Second World War. He had been employed with the N.B.L.C. until his retirement in 1978. He was a member of Jervis Bay Branch Royal Canadian Legion; the Saint John Power Boat Club; the Sargeants' Mess; R.A.O.B. Lodge 46; and the Artillery Association. He was predeceased by two brothers, Euclide and Allan; and three sisters, Corinne Noel, and Emma and Mary Gautreau. He is survived by three sons, Major Jerry (Cheryl) of Calgary, Monty (Kerry) of Charlottetown, and Joseph (Karen) of Saint John; three daughters, Donna Gautreau of Montreal, Marilyn Jones of Saint John, and Sharon Gautreau of Vancouver; one brother, Hector of Saint John; two sisters, Doris Goguen and Rita Gautreau, both of Saint John; 11 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Resting at Fitzpatrick's Funeral Home, 100 Waterloo St., with visiting on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception on Tuesday morning at twelve o'clock. Interment will take place in Holy Cross Cemetery in the spring.
