Obituary of Sister Katherine G. Stolar

The death of Sister Katherine G. Stolar (Sr. Marie Katherine) occurred at Ruth Ross Residence on Wednesday, July 27, 2005. Sister was born in Yorkton, Sask., a daughter of the late Nicholas and Appolonia (Holota) Stolar. Sister entered the Sisters of Charity of the Immaculate Conception on July 18, 1930. Sister taught school at various schools from 1933-1969 in areas of Western Canada, including Vancouver, Prince Albert, and Winnipeg. Sister Katherine moved to Eastern Canada in 1969 and taught school at St. Patrick's School, Digby for thirteen years. Upon her retirement from the teaching profession, Sister Stolar remained active in various ministries which included housekeeping and volunteering her time to teach Religious Education. She was pre-deceased by two brothers, Michael and John Stolar; and two sister, Mrs. Anne Fosland and Mrs. Mary Lienerth. She is survived by several nieces and nephews. Resting at St. Vincent's Convent, 31 Cliff St., with visiting on Thursday from 7 to 9 and on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Vincent's Chapel on Saturday morning at ten o'clock. Interment will take place in the Sisters of Charity Plot in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Prayer Vigil will be held on Friday evening at seven o'clock.
