Obituary of Arthur D. Maher

MAHER-the death of Arthur D. Maher, husband of the late Mary Eileen (Riley) Maher, occurred at the Kenneth E. Spencer Memorial Home, Salisbury Rd., Moncton, on Friday, February 18, 2005. Mr. Maher was born in Sussex, a son of the late Joseph and Margaret (Whitters) Maher, and had resided the greater part of his life in Saint John. He had been employed in the sales dept. of Barnes Hopkins. He was a well-known musician and directed the Art Maher Orchestra. He was inducted into the N.B. Country Music Hall of Fame in 1986. He was pre-deceased by two brothers, Donald and Walter Maher; and a sister, Bernice Doyle. He is survived by one daughter, Kelly MacKinnon (Tim) of Riverview; four grandchildren, Riley, Devon, Christopher, and Patrick MacKinnon; and several nieces and nephews. Resting at Fitzpatrick's Funeral Home, 100 Waterloo St., with visiting on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. Service will be held at Fitzpatrick's Chapel on Monday afternoon at two o'clock. Interment will take place in St. Joseph's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation or the charity of your choice would be appreciated.
