Obituary of Elodie M. Gallant

The death of Elodie M. Gallant of King Square South, widow of Arthur J. Gallant, occurred peacefully at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Tuesday, January 18, 2005. Mrs. Gallant was born in St. Louis de Kent, a daughter of the late Fidele and Emma (Daigle) Maillet, and had resided the greater part of her life in South End Saint John, where she was a member of St. John the Baptist Parish. She had many friends at the Admiral Beatty Complex and at the Saint John City Market. She was pre-deceased by a daughter, Rose Ida (Gallant) Dalton; four brothers, Camille, Alcide, Gonzague, and Yvon Maillet; and five sisters, Alice LeBlanc, Louise Pellerin, Emilienne Losier, Regina Melanson, and Eva Bastarache. She is survived by two sons, Raymond (Dawn) of St. John's, Nfld., and Maurice (Louise) of Arnprior, Ont.; two daughters, Shirley Harvie (Andrew Collins) of St. John's, Nfld., and Ann Marie Milligan (Jack) of Dartmouth, N.S.; two sisters, Aline Robichaud of Saint John, and Lydia Robichaud (Calixte) of St. Louis de Kent; nine grandchildren, Sheila Joyce, Vicki Hines, Tony Joyce, Nathalie Carswell, Kevin Gallant, Kelly Gallant, Joel Harvie, Jared Harvie, and Mitchell Harvie; three great-grandsons, Jeremy, Daniel, and Owen Hines; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews. Resting at Fitzpatrick's Funeral Home, 100 Waterloo St., with visiting on Wednesday from 7 to 9 and on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. John the Baptist Church on Friday morning at eleven o'clock. Interment will take place in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Donations to the Saint John Regional Hospital Palliative Care Unit or the charity of your choice would be appreciated.
