Obituary of Margaret Joyce Marie McArthur

McArthur, Margaret Joyce Marie Joyce passed away August 24, 2016. She was one of eight children born to Wilbert and Ethel (Cleghorn) Johnson, August 4, 1931, at Lawrence Station, NB. Her family home remained one of her favourite places to visit, and spending time with her there was always one filled with stories of the people who passed through its doors and lived under its roof. To say it held a piece of her heart is an understatement. She loved to laugh and to have her children with her for all the special occasions of the year. The travel adventures she took with Jocelyn, Alison and Gart were fertile ground for all sorts of tales, tall and otherwise! Garth provided the support she needed as her physical limitations increased, and nothing could brighten up her day more than Richard's appearance at the door. She loved her life, and although it held many challenges, such as the raising of a young family by herself, she was always able to keep her sense of humour. Joyce was predeceased by her young son James, in 1959, her husband, Alexander Andrew McArthur, in 1965 and her dear companion Frank Wilson in 1987. She is survived by her children Alison McArthur (Gart Bishop) of Apohaqui, Jocelyn Searle (Ron) of Bloomfield, Garth McArthur of Saint John and Richard McArthur of Bloomfield, her beloved granddaughter Halie, two of her siblings, Wilberta Topple of Fredericton and Jean Patterson of Harvey Station, and many nieces and nephews. The family wishes to express its heartfelt thanks to Joyce's doctors, and the staff and volunteers at Bobby's Hospice. At her request, there will not be visitation or a funeral. Interment at Brockway Cemetery will occur at a later date. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home, 152 Pettingill Road, Quispamsis (849-2119). Donations can be made to Bobby's Hospice or a charity of the donor's choice.
