Obituary of Mary Alphonsine Jones

The death of Mary Alphonsine 'Alice' Jones of 119 Allingham Crescent, wife of C. Ronald Jones, occurred at St. Joseph's Hospital on Tuesday, January 4, 2005, following a period of failing health. Mrs. Jones was born in Baie Ste. Anne, a daughter of the late Joseph and Leona (Duplessis) Duplessis, and had resided the greater part of her life in Saint John. She had been employed with the Princess of Acadia and in the hospitality industry. She had volunteered with the C.N.I.B. and was an avid bowler, dart-player, and bingo-player. She was pre-deceased by three sisters, Amanda Lovett, Tina Duplessis, and Lidia Gillette; and a grandson, Philip Duplessis. Besides her husband, she is survived by four sons, Anthony Duplessis of Toronto, Brian Duplessis (Annie) of Saint John, Martyn Duplessis of Toronto, and Leonard Duplessis of Ohio; two brothers, Doris Duplessis and David Duplessis (Gerry), both of Saint John; 7 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; one aunt; one uncle; and several nieces and nephews. Resting at Fitzpatrick's Funeral Home, 100 Waterloo St., with visiting on Thursday and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception on Saturday morning at nine o'clock. Interment will take place in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
