Obituary of Mary Loraine Neil

Mary Loraine (McIntyre) Neil of Grand Bay-Westfield, NB, wife of Andrew "Roy" Neil, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 20, 2004 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John, NB she was a daughter of the late Leo and Alice (McPhee) McIntyre. She leaves to mourn her husband and best friend of 54 years, Roy; her two daughters, Alice Dean of Victoria, NL and Josie (Randy) Pike of Grand Bay- Westfield; Nan will be sadly missed by her four grandchildren; Lloyd (Pilar) Dean of Burnaby, BC, Jeff (Lynn) Dean of Victoria, NL, Jonathan (Christina) Pike of Grand Bay-Westfield and Tammy Dean (Alphonse Short) of Victoria NL; two step-sisters, Mary Jane Dalton and Sharon Graves; three step-brothers, Gerald, Frank and Charles Saunders; several nieces and nephews and her special friend and dart partner, Dot. Loraine was predeceased by her parents, her brother, Ronald, her son-in-law, William Dean and step-brother, John Saunders. Mom lived for her family and loved to knit and garden and as a "back-yard" bird watcher, over the years she and Jonathan had identified several species visiting her feeder. For many years she played darts at Jones Creek Legion where she was a 25 year member. Loraine's teakettle was always on and she enjoyed nothing more than a neighbour or friend dropping in for a cup of tea. In her later years she took up quilting, creating quilts for each of her children and grandchildren. Alice recently discovered a baby quilt tucked away in mom's attic; this will be lovingly entrusted to the first great-grandchild (expected in February 2005) and then passed on to each succeeding great-grandchild; this is something that Mom would have liked. Loraine attended Westfield United Church. Resting at Brenan's Bay View Funeral Home, 1461 Manawagonish Road, Saint John (506) 634-7425 with visiting on Monday, November 22, 2004 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, November 23, 2004 from Westfield United Church, 133 Nerepis Rd., Grand Bay-Westfield at 11 am. With reception following. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery. Flowers will be gratefully appreciated or remembrances may be made to the Westfield United Church Building Fund or a charity of the donor's choice.
