Obituary of George Gibson

The death of George Gibson occurred, after a courageous battle with cancer, at the Saint John Regional Hospital, on September 21, 2004. Born in Nerepis NB, he was the son of the late John and Gertrude (Della Torre) Gibson. George was employed as a carpenter for many years before his retirement. He was an avid watcher of horse racing at the Exhibition Park Raceway and enjoyed hunting and fishing. George is survived by his brother, Douglas (Shirley) Gibson of Westfield, NB, his sister; Shirley (Douglas) Brown of Saint John, his half sister, Ethel Forgey of South Africa, two special nieces; Lorraine and Jennifer, one special great-nephew; Jeremy; and special friend and companion, Heather MacKenzie of Saint John; also by many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his half-sister, Jean Bunnel and five half-brothers; Walter, Bruce, William, Donald and Laurie Gibson. Resting at Brenan's Bay View Select Community Funeral Home, 1461 Manawagonish Road, Saint John (506-634-7425), with visitation on Wednesday and Thursday, 2 ? 4PM and 7 ? 9 PM. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, September 24, 2004 from Bay View Chapel. Interment will take place in Mount Hope Cemetery. Remembrances may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, the New Brunswick Lung Association or to the charity of the donor's choice.
