Obituary of Chester Bernard Johnson

The death of Chester "Chet" Johnson of Meadow Wood Gardens, Saint John, NB, occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Monday, June 28th, 2004. Born in Leonardville, Deer Island, he was the son of the late Seward and Lavina Johnson. Upon coming to Saint John Chet was employed by the Saint John Harbour Pilotage Authority leaving there in 1955 to join the Saint John City Police Force where he served for thirty-one years, retiring in 1986. Chet enjoyed his home, woodworking, fishing and reading. He is survived by loving wife, Shirley; his brother, Eugene Johnson (Ellen) of St. Stephen, NB; two sisters, Dorothy Richardson and Lillian Davidson, both of Campobello, NB; special nieces, Maxine Malloch of Campobello, NB and Marina Ilkay (Kemal) and their children Jade and Kelsey Ilkay of Quispamsis, NB; several other nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one brother, Ronald. Resting at Brenan's Bay View Select Community Funeral Home, 1461 Manawagonish Road, Saint John, NB (506) 634-7425, with visitation on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A memorial service will be held from Brenan's Funeral Home Chapel, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB on Friday, July 2nd, 2004 at 1:00 pm. Interment will take place in Ocean View Memorial Gardens. For those who wish, donations may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
