Obituary of Doanld J. Cormier

The death of Donald Joseph Cormier, of Ludlow Street, occurred on Friday, June 25, 2004 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John he was the son of the late Arthur and Alice (Crabb) Cormier. Donald had served under the Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry as a private during the Korean War. He was a former member of Royal Canadian Legion branch # 2. He was employed with Coca Cola for 17 years as an assistant foreman, Port of Saint John as a forklift operator and Irving Pulp and Paper as a heavy equipment operator until his retirement. He was an avid gardener, sports fan enjoyed spending his time in Grand Bay and playing the spoons. He is survived by his friend and companion Rena Hawbolt, step-sons and step-daughters, son Jeffrey Cormier of Saint John, daughters Ann Marie Cormier of Montreal, Cheryl Cormier of Calgary, Cindy Cormier of Grand Falls and Debbie Smith of Saint John, brothers Denis Cormier of Saint John, Tony Cormier of Toronto, Gerry Cormier, Tommy Cormier and John Cormier all of Saint John, sisters Jean Doiron of Quispamsis, Diane of Saint John and Margery (Les) Cormier of Toronto, several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his brother David Cormier. Resting at Brenan's Bay View Select Community Funeral Home 1461 Manawagonish Road, Saint John (506-634-7425) with visiting on Sunday, June 27, 2004 from 7-9 pm and Monday, June 28, 2004 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 29, 2004 from St. Columba Church at 11:00 am. Interment will take place in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery. Remembrances may be made to the NB Lung Association. A Royal Canadian Legion Tribute Service will be held on Monday, June 28, 2004 at 7:00 pm.
