Obituary of Arthur Victor Spragg

Arthur Victor Spragg of Ridgewood Veterans Wing and formerly of Chance Harbour, NB passed away peacefully on March 28, 2012 in his 96th year. Born in Saint John on June 11, 1916, he was the son of the late Herbert V. and Eliza May (Mawhinney) Spragg. A veteran of the Second World War, Arthur served in Italy and England and after the war continued his career with the Canadian Armed Forces. He served in Germany, Egypt and several places around the world until his retirement in 1965. He is the last surviving member of his immediate family but is survived by five nephews, Sandy Robertson, David Spragg, John Wilson, Brian Wilson and Garth Wilson as well as six nieces, Carol Crilley, Bonnie Wetmore, Cathy Hansen, Susan Wells, Julie Tangard, Wendy Ferris and several great nieces and nephews. He was a great chef and had a tremendous love of all animals. In addition to his parents, Arthur was predeceased by one brother, Harry Spragg and six sisters, Lena Alward, Maude Robertson, Evelyn Wilson, Ella Allen, Mabel Spragg and Elsie Wells. He was also predeceased by his nephew, Bill Wells and niece, Patricia Goodwin. There will be a memorial service held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 177 Manchester Ave on Monday, April 2, 2012 at 12 noon. Arthur will be buried in "The Field of Honor" in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan's Bay View Funeral Home, 1461 Manawagonish Road, (634-7425).
