Obituary of John Hayward

HAYWARD, John (Jack) Leonard- It is with great sorrow that the family of John (Jack) Leonard Hayward announces his passing on Wednesday, March 21, 2012, at the Saint John Regional Hospital BUT with great comfort knowing that he will spend eternity with his Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. Jack was born on October 25, 1927 in Norton, NB, and moved to West Saint John, NB as a young child. Jack was the son of the late Leonard Tilley and Dora (Fairley) Hayward.  Jack lived his entire life as a west sider and made many friends throughout his lifetime. He retired as a supervisor from Maritime Paper with 42 years of service; his fellow co-workers gave him a nickname, which he responded to proudly, the "Silver Fox".  If one word could describe this incredible gentlemen, it would be "giver". Jack never hesitated to help those in need whether it was locally or globally. In his quiet, gentle way, he gave many hours obediently serving wherever the Lord led him. Throughout his final weeks at the Saint John Regional Hospital, Jack had many visitors and not one friend left without sharing a wonderful memory of his kindness and great sense of humour. Jack touched the lives of many people with his smile and generosity, and maintained his trademark sense of humour all the way to the end.  He was predeceased by his wife and best friend, Joan; daughter, Faye; and brothers Murray, Charles, Raymond, Rupert, Lloyd, Neil, George and twin sister, Leona, and sisters, Pearl and Viola.  Jack lived his life with integrity and was a wonderful example to his sons who he was so very proud of. Jack is survived by his three sons, Jack (Julia), Paul (Beth Ann) and Glenn (Mona) all residing in Grand Bay-Westfield; his last surviving sibling and youngest brother, Colin Hayward of Saint John. Papa Jack has 8 grandchildren: Tina Parker (Laurie Van), Jeremy (Patti Giberson) of Edmonton, Mark Hayward of Fredericton, Joanne (Shawn) McGouey of Baxter's Corner, Michael Hayward of Toronto, Sean (Tiffany Hubbard) Tulip and Natalie (Andrew) Porter of Saint John, and Jessica (Matthew) McIntrye of Quispamsis, and three precious great grandchildren, Matthew Tulip, Charlotte Porter and Jack McIntrye.  Resting at Brenan's Bay View Funeral Home, 1461 Manawagonish Road, Saint John, NB, 506-634-7425), with visiting hours on Saturday and Sunday, March 24 & 25, 2012 from 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm and 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm. Funeral services will be held from Grand Bay Baptist Church, Grand Bay-Westfield, on Monday, March 26 at 10:00 am. Interment will take place at Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Grand Bay Baptist Church Benevolent Fund, Outflow Ministries, World Vision or a charity of the donor's choice, and would be appreciated by the family.
