Obituary of Norton Roy Christie

Norton "Nortie" Roy Christie of Lorneville, NB, beloved husband of Irene Christie, passed away with his family by his side at the Saint John Regional Hospital on February 13, 2010. Born in Christie Ridge, NB on December 20, 1916, he was a son of the late Roy and Margaret (Cleghorn) Christie. Nortie was a veteran of the Royal Canadian Air Force during WWII. He retired from the C.P. Rail as a conductor and brakeman. Nortie was a member of Lorneville United Church and a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 69 for 54 years. He enjoyed playing crib on Friday nights at the Lorneville Community Centre. In addition to his loving wife of 60 years, Nortie is survived by his two children, Dale (Judy) Christie of Lorneville and Joanne (Gary) Arsenault of Saint John, NB; four grandchildren, Shawn Christie, Amy Christie, Kristen Arsenault and Evan Arsenault; one half-brother, Arthur (Alice) Christie of Harvey, NB; one half-sister, Mary Nobel of Milltown, NB; sister-in-law, Elsie (Frank) Rusling; several cousins, nieces and nephews. Predeceased by one brother, Earl and his wife Mabel; one sister Irene Hurney; one half-sister, Phyllis Roberts and two half-brothers, Roy and Ronald. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan's Bay View Funeral Home, 1461 Manawagonish Rd (506) 634-7425 with visiting Sunday from 7-9pm and Monday 2-4 and 7-9pm. A Royal Canadian Legion Service will be held on Monday night at 7:00pm. Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, February 16, 2010 at 2:00 pm from Brenan's Bay View Chapel. Interment at a later date in the Lorneville Seaview Cemetery. Remembrances may be made to the Lorneville United Church or any charity of the donor's choice.
