Obituary of Garland Barnes

Barnes, Garland Maxwell – The death of Garland Maxwell Barnes of Grand Bay- Westfield, NB, husband of Violet (Sweetland) Barnes, occurred on Saturday, June 27, 2009 at the Church of St. John and St. Stephen Home. Born in Champneys West, Newfoundland, on July 15, 1915, he was a son of the late Frank and Johanna (Freeman) Barnes. Garland retired as Supervisor from the CNR after more than 27 years of service. He is survived by his children, Edwin Barnes(Shirley Allingham) of Saint John and Elizabeth "Betty" (Robert) Roach – Ross of Grand Bay – Westfield; one brother, Eldred Barnes of Newfoundland; one sister, Delilih Hounsell of Toronto, ON; two grandchildren, Michael and Michelle Roach; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Richard; three sisters, Emily, Alice and Claire; five brothers, Art, Bennett, George, Stewart and Richard. Resting at Brenan's Bay View Select Community Funeral Home, 1461 Manawagonish Rd., Saint John (506) 634-7425. At the request of the family there will be no visiting at the funeral home and a private Funeral Service will be held. Interment will be in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery.
